Before joining OBAP, Vanessa served as a Change Advisor and Leadership Coach (PCC) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) – Aviation Safety – Change Management Services Branch – AFB 160. In this capacity, she provided invaluable guidance and support to executives and senior leaders, focusing on inter-agency and national change efforts to enhance organizational performance and resolve business issues.

Vanessa’s illustrious career spans various roles, including her tenure at United Airlines as the Manager of Emergency Procedures Training for pilots and flight attendants worldwide. As a long-term volunteer and leader within OBAP, Vanessa previously served as the organization’s first female, non-pilot Board Chair, where she championed initiatives to promote inclusivity and organizational excellence. For the past five years, she has held the esteemed position of Chair of the Board of Advisors, further solidifying her commitment to advancing the organization’s mission. Vanessa will pass the baton to current Board Vice Chair Randall Rochon, who will assume the role of Chair effective Apr 1, 2024.

In addition to her professional achievements, Vanessa is deeply involved in various philanthropic endeavors, having served on the Board of Trustees for the Civil Air Patrol Foundation and as Chair of the Board of Directors for Her Many Voices Foundation. She is also a dedicated coach for Grad Life Choices, empowering individuals to reach their full potential.

Vanessa holds an MBA and earned a BA in Public Relations from the University of Southern California. She is also certified in professional coaching and change management. She is an adjunct professor at Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology and a faculty member for Coach A and Coach U.

“It is an honor to join OBAP as Executive Director,” said Vanessa Blacknall-Jamison. “I am committed to building upon the organization’s legacy of excellence and fostering opportunities for Black professionals in the aerospace industry.”
