JetBlue to Donate 3-Million Miles to Charity as Part of World Kindness Day Celebration

Metropolitan Airport NewsBy Metropolitan Airport NewsNovember 19, 2020No Comments2 Mins Read

JetBlue Airways said it would celebrate World Kindness Day by donating three million TrueBlue frequent-flyer program points to a variety of charities.

World Kindness Day has been observed annually across the globe on November 13 since 1989.  Its objective is to recognize and encourage acts of kindness.

The list of charities to which JetBlue will donate includes Autism Speaks, Make-A-Wish, Together We Rise, and World Central Kitchen, among others, and the airline is also encouraging its passengers to make similar donations as well.

Selected from thousands of entries from community members, each of these nonprofit organizations received a $25,000 grant from JetBlue to continue their work helping others within their local communities. The designated charities each represent one of JetBlue For Good’s three pillars: youth and education, the community, and the environment.

“JetBlue For Good Month is an exciting celebration of service, kindness and good deeds that lives well beyond just 30 days,” said Icema Gibbs, director corporate social responsibility, JetBlue. “We took time on World Kindness Day to spread evenmore good and honor three deserving charities. Aligned with our mission of inspiring humanity, these grants will provide much-needed funds to help these organizations continue to make an impact in their local communities and beyond.”

The observance is also intended to increase the number of kind acts that take place throughout the year.  The airline specifically cites a mission to encourage everyone in the country to carry out at least one act of kindness on the day.
